Now I Belong to Jesus

Hymn lyrics and music by Norman J. Clayton
Copyright Status Uncertain
Verse 1
  • Jesus my Lord will love me forever,
  • From Him no pow’r of evil can sever;
  • He gave His life to ransom my soul—
  • Now I belong to Him!
Chorus
  • Now I belong to Jesus,
  • Jesus belongs to me—
  • Not for the years of time alone,
  • But for eternity.
Verse 2
  • Once I was lost in sin’s degradation,
  • Jesus came down to bring me salvation,
  • Lifted me up from sorrow and shame—
  • Now I belong to Him!
Chorus
Verse 3
  • Joy floods my soul, for Jesus has saved me,
  • Freed me from sin that long had enslaved me;
  • His precious blood He gave to redeem—
  • Now I belong to Him!
Chorus

Thanks for this site. Have always loved "blood songs". Had to save my old (new at the time) hymnal when we became Vineyard in '80s. Nice to be able to search this while I'm not at home. :-)

I love this song immensely. Anyone able to tell the Copyright thing so I can print and share with others without "condemnation"?

It's been a long time since I have thought of this song but I grew up singing it in church and the begining lyrics just came to me this morning so I did a search and found your posted lyrics. Thanks much!! I really miss singing so many songs I grew up with and more than once have detested some of the new songs used today. I have heard it said that this is a post-modern culture and we need a new sound and type of worship music. If that logic was used with great classical music scores I suppose we could only hear the great symphony orchestras playing only the latest rap hits. We may not get to hear songs like this often enough but I'm thankful for the truth they conveyed.

I can't find the hymn tune(Ellsworth) where you can actually hear the melody anywhere online. Do you have any suggestions? I want to sing this wonderful hymn but don't know the tune. I'll proclaim it in the meantime! Thank you for your help and the Lord's ministry through you. Blessings in our Lord.
